German Actress Antje Traue Set to Battle Superman in 'Man of Steel'

Source: Variety
After hearing earlier this month that Michael Shannon had landed the role of General Zod in Zack Snyder's new take on Superman with Man of Steel, it was only going to be a matter of time before we heard about casting for his right hand woman, the Kryptonian vixen known as Ursa. Previously we heard that Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike and Diane Kruger might be up for the role, but apparently Warner Bros. has decided to go in a different direction. Variety reports that German actress Antje Traue will actually take the villainous role and rather than going by the name Ursa, she will actually be called Faora in this iteration. Read on!

Though comic fans will already know this information, Faora is simply an alternate name for the same character who works closely with General Zod (we've already seen her in Superman II) and has even been linked to the villain romantically in some stories. There are actually multiple versions of this female villain, and as of now it's not clear which version she will be playing. Traue previously starred alongside Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Pandorum, but this will undoubtedly be the actress' biggest role so far. It's interesting that they've decided to go with a relatively unknown actress for this role, but with a cast that already includes Amy Adams, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, this movie doesn't lack star power anyway.
