Jeff Bridges Could Replace Zach Galifianakis In R.I.P.D

Zach Galifianakis and Jeff Bridges: both popular white male actors who rock facial hair better than just about anybody else, but that's pretty much the end of their similarities. And yet, now that Galifianakis has dropped out of the supernatural cop comedy R.I.P.D., he may be replaced by Bridges. Because, hey, any movie is better with Bridges in it, right?

According to Deadline Universal is negotiating with Bridges to take the role in the film, which will be directed by RED's Robert Schwentke. It's unclear exactly when production might start given that Warner Bros. might wrestle Reynolds back to the lot for a Green Lantern 2 at any moment, but Bridges is probably in no hurry-- he's starring in the fantasy young adult film The Seventh Son and may or may not have something to do with a Tron 3 that may or may not get made, but other than that he's pretty free. he would be stepping into the role of the Old West gunslinger-- hey, like Rooster Cogburn!-- who teams up with Reynolds' recently deceased cop character to help solve crimes. It's all based on a comic published by Dark Horse.

Eric was suggesting when Galifianakis dropped out that R.I.P.D. would join Deadpool as a comic book adaptation that Reynolds would never actually make, but if the studio is already trying to get Bridges on board, they may be aiming to get started sooner than we expected.
