LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – "Scary Movie" actress Anna Faris is in negotiations to play the female lead in "The Dictator," a new comedy from satirist Sacha Baron Cohen.
The Paramount movie has been described as "the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." Baron Cohen is said to play dual roles of a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler who gets lost in the U.S.
Faris will play the owner of a Whole Foods-style store in New York. Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas are also in the movie, playing fellows from the Middle East.
Larry Charles, who directed Baron Cohen in both "Borat" and "Bruno," is back in the helming saddle.
The movie is being done in a similar manner as Borat in the sense that Baron Cohen and his team are looking for people with very strong improvisational skills. The movie is aiming to start June 5 in New York and Spain.
Faris next stars in "What's Your Number?" The movie, which also counts Chris Evans, Zachary Quinto and Joel McHale among its cast members, opens September 30.
