Film District Grabs Angelina Jolie's 'In the Land of Blood and Honey'

We just found out last week that Film District had picked up Rian Johnson's sci-fi action flick Looper starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt for distribution, and now they've decided to pick up the directorial debut from actress Angelina Jolie. The company announced their acquisition of In the Land of Blood and Honey in a press release with the movie slated to hit theaters on December 23rd of this year. The film is set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War in the 90's and illustrates the consequences of the lack of political will to intervene in a society stricken with conflict. Jolie says, "The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it's also universal."

Jolie continued, "I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war." The film features a local cast, and most of them are actually real-life children of the war. The story itself follows a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship. I'm certainly interested to see how Jolie fares behind the camera after standing in front of it for so long. Hopefully she's picked up some pointers from the myriad of directors she's worked with in her career. Anyone interested in seeing this?
