LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Filmmaker Rod Lurie, who returns to theaters later this year for the first time since 2007, will direct a thriller about a family taken hostage by fugitives.
"Borderline" centers on a father with everything on the line, who engages in a battle of wits with a criminal with nothing to lose. It is being produced by Voltage Productions, the company behind "The Hurt Locker."
Lurie intends to make a movie that evokes the stories of the amoral and on-the-run such as "Hud," "The Sugarland Express" and "The Getaway." Last in theaters with 2007's "Resurrecting the Champ," Lurie has also directed "The Contender" and "The Last Castle." His next film, due in the fall, is a remake of "Straw Dogs."
