Back in October of 2009, we heard that Josh Brolin and Brad Pitt were interested in a new project called Go Like Hell, a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled racing drama set up at Fox. Based on A.J. Baime's non-fiction book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans, which tells the remarkable story of how Henry Ford II, with the help of a young visionary named Lee Iacocca and former racing champ turned engineer, Carroll Shelby, concocted a scheme to reinvent the Ford company. Now Deadline says Collateral and Public Enemies director Michael Mann is in early talks to direct the film.
The three prominent men in automobile history would enter the high-stakes world of European car racing, where an adventurous few threw safety and sanity to the wind. They would design, build, and race a car that could beat Enzo Ferrari at his own game at 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most prestigious and brutal race in the world, something no American car had ever done.It's not clear whether or not Pitt or Brolin will end up being involved, but I'm doubting they'll end up signing on. There's even a chance that Mann could end up falling away from the project, but he has been quite interested in the subject matter so we'll see what happens.
