ast December we learned that Ben Stiller would reunite with Greenberg director Noah Baumbach for his next project While We're Young. At the time, James Franco was also set to start in the story about a free-spirited Brooklynite twenty-something couple who inspires an uptight documentarian (Stiller) and his wife to loosen up. Franco was set to play one-half of the young couple, but now another previous Baumbacj collaborator may step into the role as 24 Frames has learned that The Squid and the Whale star Jesse Eisenberg is currently in talks to join the cast and Naomi Watts is apparently in the mix too.
The forty-something couple feels alienated from their friends who are having kids of their own, and try to cut loose by becoming friends with the younger pair. Watts is in talks to play opposite Ben Stiller while the younger female role is still waiting to be filled. Both Greenberg and The Squid and the Whale are two great indie flicks from Baumbach, and pairing stars from each of the films in yet another of the director's projects sounds like a great pairing. Eisenberg's screen presence is commanding and subtle at the same time, and Stiller's work in indie films always rivals his work in big budget comedies.
