Last month, we learned that Alexander Skarsgard, fresh of his big screen turn in Straw Dogs and with a forthcoming role in Battleship, would be joining breakout indie actress and writer Brit Marling for her new thriller The East. Now Variety has word that another indie darling has joined the cast with Juno and Inception star Ellen Page taking a role in the film. The story follows a private contracting firm tasked with protecting big corporations from radical environmentalists and anti-business extremists that assigns its best and brightest agent to infiltrate a mysterious anarchist organization known only as The East. More below!

Marling is playing the undercover agent who ends up falling in love with the leader of The East (Skarsgard), while Page has been set to play Izzy, another member who who used to be Skarsgard's lover and is now jealous of their newfound relationship. Marling not only stars in the film but she also co-wrote the film with Zat Batmangli, who will also be in the director's chair for the project. The two worked together magnificently on the Sundance selected film Sound of My Voice which will hopefully hit theaters before the year is out, but with Ridley and Tony Scott backing this project, it should get a bit more attention.
