Just last week we learned that Drive and Sucker Punch star Oscar Isaac had been chosen to lead the new Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis, which is said to focus on the early folk music scene in Greenwich Village in the 60's. Now Variety has word that another Drive star is also entering the mix. Carey Mulligan has landed the female lead in the film about the struggles of the titular fictional musician as he attempts to make a name for himself in the genre's heyday. It's not clear if Mulligan is a folk singer herself or maybe just a love interest for the main character. Details on another promising role for the actress below.
In addition, Mulligan is also negotiating to take a role in the next untitled project from director Spike Jonze. We've previously heard about the project written by Charlie Kaufman which has only been briefly described as a satire about how world leaders gather to figure out all the big events that will take place in the world, from oil price fluctuation to wars that will be waged. What we hadn't heard is that apparently Joaquin Phoenix has landed a role in the film that sounds like it could be reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove. With Phoenix making a return to acting, and Mulligan taking a role, this project has even more of my attention now. Honestly, the more Carey Mulligan appears in the films, the happier audiences should be with the caliber of talent she brings to every project.
