Adele cancels N.American dates due to laryngitis

LONDON (Reuters) – British singer Adele has postponed five dates of her North American tour due to laryngitis, she said on her website, frustrating fans in the United States where she has dominated charts in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old Grammy-winning artist was diagnosed with the throat complaint last week in Minneapolis, forcing her to cancel a performance at the last moment.
Adele returned to the stage in Denver at the weekend, but the comeback proved too early and she was forced to call off Sunday night's gig in Salt Lake City.
She postponed a show on Tuesday in Vancouver, Canada, and will also reschedule performances in Seattle and Portland due later this week. According to her website, the tour will resume on June 4 in San Francisco.
Adele's album "21" has sold around two million copies in North America, almost matching its UK tally and making her one of the few British artists who has enjoyed major chart success on both sides of the Atlantic.
The Londoner was recently voted the most powerful force in British music by the Guardian newspaper.
