Kristen Wiig to star, executive produce "Imogene"

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) - Just off the success of "Bridesmaids," Kristen Wiig will star in and executive produce the black comedy "Imogene" for Maven Pictures.
The movie, a passion project for Wiig, is dark: It is "the story of a moderately successful New York playwright who stages a fake suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to end up being forced into the custody of her gambling-addicted mother," according to Maven.
Wiig has the title role of Imogene.
Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini ("American Splendor," "Cinema Verite") are directing.
"Bridesmaids" has grossed nearly $207 million worldwide, and propelled Wiig -- a "Saturday Night Live" regular -- into movie stardom.
