In what seems to be a departure from her know-it-all, assertive characters from Up in the Air and Rocket Science, the lovely Anna Kendrick is negotiating to lead the romantic comedy Pitch Perfect, a story set in the world of collegiate a cappella groups. Likely looking to pull the music loving "Glee" audience into theaters, the film follows a goth-like and rebellious student (Kendrick), unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor, who discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group. As a bonus, Avenue Q director Jason Moore will be at the helm of the film.

With Mickey Rapkin's non-fiction book serving as the foundation for the story, and a Broadway director coming on board, this promises to be quite the musical romp. In addition to Kendrick's negotiations to join the project, THR also reports Bridesmaids actress Rebel Wilson is also part of the cast, but it's not clear what role she's playing in the film. We'll like hear about more casting soon as the project is slated to start production this fall in New Orleans, but frankly I'm already looking forward to hearing Kendrick belt out some signature tunes a capella style.
