If things go according to plan, you’ll be hearing the name Lily Collins more in the future. The actress was hand picked by Tarsem to lead his forthcoming (and still annoyingly untitled) Snow White movie and the plethora of stills for that film thus far have shown her to certainly look the part with ease. Collins was luckily left out of the critical carnage hauled at the Taylor Lautner vehicle “Abduction” last month and while she’s still attached to another gestating tentpole in “The Mortal Instruments,” the actress is wisely choosing a small scale indie for her next film.
Collins along with “Hung” star Charlie Saxton have joined “The English Teacher” with Julianne Moore, Michael Angarano, Greg Kinnear and Nathan Lane. Marking the feature directorial debut of Craig Zisk (“The Big C,” “Weeds”) from a script by Dan and Stacy Charlton, the story follows a high school English teacher (Moore) whose life is turned upside when a failed playwright and former student (Angarano) returns to town and she begins to fall in love with him. Lane plays a former drama teacher at the school, with Saxton as a snobby, preppy actor who is one of Moore’s students and Collins as the popular girl who runs afoul of the teacher. Still no word on Kinnear’s part.
The cast has shaped up pretty nicely, and the picture started rolling in front of cameras this week. The indie production will likely hit the festival circuit next year.
