His new take on Footloose hits theaters in October, but writer and director Craig Brewer is already lining up another project. Deadline reports the filmmaker will write and direct a new installment of Tarzan and apparently his take on the story encompasses three films. Brewer is hoping the first installment becomes his next directing gig, but apparently the classic jungle hero from Edgar Rice Burroughs is also getting a script from Adam Cozad (writer behind Joseph Kosinski's developing Archangels project) in a completely different Tarzan project that is also set up at Warner Bros. But it sounds like only one of these projects will live.
Apparently the studio will only choose one, but it's unclear if either project has an edge over the other. The three-film take on Tarzan is apparently a passion project for Brewer, but if Cozad is further along on a script, then he might beat him to the punch. Either way, Warner Bros. is keen to get Tarzan back into the big screen. They better hurry though, because we previously heard about another Tarzan film coming from a German film company and that one is supposed to be in 3D with the story also coming from Burroughs' novels.
