Fox Animation Plots New 'King Kong' Story from Ape's Point of View

Source: Deadline
We just recently got a better look at 20th Century Fox's return to one of their staple franchises in the form of the new trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but now Deadline reports Fox Animation will take another familiar tale and give it a new twist. Peter Jackson recently gave us his extended take on the classic tale of King Kong, but now an animated story aims to take on the giant ape. However, this time we'll see the story  from the point-of-view of Kong himself. Part of me feels like we get some of that in Jackson's version of the tale with Andy Serkis bringing great emotion to the ape via motion capture, but this will be different.

It's not clear of Kong will talk in this animated version, or maybe have a voiceover or inner monologue like Look Who's Talking, but the story will indeed be from his point-of-view. How loyal this is to the original tale also remains to be seen. Obviously the story isn't necessarily the most family friendly tale, and since it's animated, it will probably be geared towards kids. Anyway, Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow (they had a script called Murder of a Cat that made the Black List) are behind this new version, and we'll probably be waiting a little while to see how it turns out.
